What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a modern teeth straightening system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gently move your teeth into position – without brackets, wires or metal. Each aligner is custom-made using 3D scans of your mouth and is worn for around one to two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series.
At Lateral Dental, we use Invisalign to help patients of all ages achieve straighter, more balanced smiles with minimal impact on their day-to-day life. The aligners are discreet, comfortable to wear, and easy to remove when eating, drinking or brushing.
What is Invisalign used for?
- Aligners gently guide your teeth into better alignment for a more even smile.
- Invisalign can close spaces, whether they’re small or more noticeable.
- Including overbite, underbite or crossbite – helping to improve function and reduce wear.
- Ideal for people who want to avoid fixed braces or have had previous relapse.
- A popular option for adults looking for a more confident, straight smile – discreetly.

Benefits of Invisalign
Clear aligners by Invisalign are a flexible, nearly invisible alternative to fixed braces – built for modern life.

The clear aligners are discreet and hard to spot – most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.

They’re removable, so you can eat what you like and brush your teeth normally – no tricky wires or brackets.

The treatment is fully planned using digital scans – with a preview of your future smile before you start.

Invisalign is designed for comfort, with smooth edges and no metal – ideal for people with sensitive mouths.

What’s the Invisalign process like – and what can you expect?
It all starts with a consultation. We’ll assess your teeth, take a 3D digital scan (no messy impressions), and talk through what you’re hoping to achieve. If Invisalign is right for you, we’ll create a personalised treatment plan and show you a simulation of how your teeth will move and what the end result should look like.
Once your aligners are made, you’ll wear each set for around 1–2 weeks, 20–22 hours a day. You’ll remove them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush your teeth. We’ll see you every 6–8 weeks to check progress and give you your next sets.
Throughout treatment, we’re here to support you. We’ll track how things are going, help with fit, comfort, or questions – and when you reach the final aligner, we’ll talk about retainers to keep everything looking great long-term.
What can Invisalign fix

See your future smile before treatment starts
At Lateral Dental, we use the iTero 3D scanner as part of every Invisalign consultation. It’s a small handheld scanner that captures a detailed digital model of your teeth – no messy impressions, no discomfort, and no guesswork.
Within minutes, we can show you a full 3D image of your current smile and a simulation of how your teeth could look after treatment. It’s a brilliant way to see what’s possible before you commit – and it helps us plan your aligners with accuracy, comfort, and speed.
The iTero scan also lets us track progress as your teeth move, making sure everything stays on course throughout your Invisalign journey. It’s one of the many ways we make treatment more precise, more predictable, and more personal.

FAQs
Thinking of straightening your teeth with Invisalign? Here are some helpful answers from our team to the questions people ask most.
Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?
In many cases, yes – from mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or bite issues. We’ll assess your teeth and let you know if it’s a good fit.
How long does Invisalign take?
It depends on your case, but most treatments take 6–18 months. You’ll start seeing changes within weeks.
Will people be able to see them?
Barely. The aligners are very discreet and sit close to your teeth – most people won’t notice unless you point them out.
Can I eat with Invisalign in?
You’ll need to remove the aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water – but there are no food restrictions like with braces.
What happens after treatment ends?
You’ll be given retainers to wear at night to keep your teeth in their new position. We’ll guide you on how and when to wear them.
