Referring to Lateral Dental
Do you find treating nervous adults and children challenging, or just feel like you don’t have the time or techniques to manage them? Referring patients for treatment under conscious sedation can take this stress away for you and your patients – leaving you time to do the treatment you enjoy.
Who we are
A new, purpose-built private dental practice on the edge of Kelham Island in Sheffield.

What we offer
- We aim to be an efficient referral practice available for you to send both adults and children for conscious sedation.
- We offer both inhalation sedation and intravenous sedation, designed with patient comfort and experience in mind.
- Additional comforts and distractions include aromatherapy, noise cancelling headphones, TVs, etc.
- We provide a range of routine general dentistry and advanced cosmetic treatments in-house.
- We have a dedicated recovery room for post-IV sedation.
- Simple referral process – no separate anxiety or medical questionnaires required.
Referrals can be made for any routine dentistry, including:
Extractions
Fillings
Deciduous fillings
Hall crowns
Deciduous extractions
Deciduous pulpotomies
Orthodontic extractions
Crowns / veneers
Bridges
Periodontal treatments
Non-specialist endodontics
Implant restorations (crowns)
Who to refer
- Nervous patients (adults and children) who you cannot treat or who won’t accept treatment under local anaesthesia only:
- Needle phobics
- Gag reflexes
- Children who have limited cooperation or need more treatment than can be managed
- ASA Grade I–II

ASA Grade 1
A normal healthy patient. No systemic disease
ASA Grade 2
patient with mild systemic disease (e.g. controlled hypertension)
ASA Grade 3
A patient with severe systemic disease (e.g. poorly controlled diabetes, COPD)
ASA Grade 4
A patient with severe systemic disease that is a constant threat to life
A visiting advanced practitioner may be scheduled at our practice to treat any ASA Grade III/IV patients but this cannot be guaranteed.

Complete the simple referral form online and attach relevant radiographs and the patient’s full medical history
